Say hello
Email contact@1in8billionlife.app for help, feedback, or privacy questions.
If you’re reporting a problem, tell us what happened and what you expected. Your iPhone model, iOS version, and app version can help us understand it. Add a screenshot if useful, but leave out sensitive personal information.
How do I start a new life?
Choose to be born, and the game gives you a new beginning. Your birthplace is drawn from 196 countries, weighted by real birth statistics. As the years pass, tap “+ Age” to move forward and make choices when they appear. Your choices influence the odds; they do not guarantee an outcome.
Can I move through the years faster?
Hold the “+ Age” button to skip ahead to the next decision. You can also take it one year at a time and read each moment as it happens.
Where is my progress saved?
Your current life, Album, achievements, and settings are saved on your device. You can return to an unfinished life and revisit completed lives from the Album. There is no game account or built-in cloud sync.
Before deleting the app or changing phones, check your device’s backup options. Your local progress may be included in an Apple or computer backup, depending on your settings. We do not have a server copy of your lives and cannot restore them through support.
Can I play offline?
Yes. The simulation, artwork, and data used by the game are included in the app. Opening external links or sending a life card through another service may require an internet connection.
What is Gentle mode?
Gentle mode leaves out the hardest events for players who prefer a softer experience. You can find the option on the game’s home screen. The game still explores a full life, including its ending.
How do I share or delete a life?
At the end of a life, choose “Share life” to send its illustrated card through the iPhone share sheet. You can also reopen a saved life from the Album. To remove a saved life, touch and hold it in the Album, then choose “Delete this life.”
Can I continue as my character’s child?
When a completed life has an eligible child, “Be born as your child” lets you continue into another generation.
Where do the numbers come from?
The game uses published country-level data from sources including the World Bank, WHO, UN IGME, UNICEF, and ILO. Lines marked “Data” connect moments in the story to real statistics. A simulated life is a story shaped by probabilities, not a prediction about any individual.
If a statistic looks wrong, email us with the country and the text you saw. A link to an updated source is welcome.
What information does the app collect?
The app runs without an account, ads, analytics, or advertising trackers. Game progress stays in local storage on your device. Optional sharing, device backups, website hosting, and emails you send are explained in our privacy policy.
Where can I find the terms?
Read our Terms of Service for game and website rules, local-save information, and a link to Apple’s standard app license.
